Peveril's armchair donation put to good use by local charity - May 1st
Show home furniture from Peveril Homes has been given a new lease of life by the YMCA in Burton-Upon-Trent, a Christian charity supporting young people and families.
The housebuilder has opened the doors to its show home at its Grants development in the town and invited the charity to take the sofas, beds, tables, chairs plus accessories and put them to good use.
The YMCA in Burton-Upon-Trent runs a large scale furniture re-use service for low income families and those in crisis. Now in its 20th year, the service is the town’s largest and oldest social enterprise.
In total, across its 3 branches, it relies on generous donations such as the one from Peveril Homes in order to supply over 4,000 low income families. The service also provides a huge number of volunteering opportunities and takes trainees who need help to get into work. It has formed links with many local organisations that depend on work placements, and each year helps divert 200 tonnes of perfectly good furniture away from landfill.
Paul Laffey Chief Executive of the YMCA said: “We are a charity and work hard every year for funding to keep us going. A huge thank you goes to Peveril Homes for providing us with a considerable amount of good quality furniture from its show home. We are very grateful. Many low income families who could not afford such good quality furniture will now benefit from their kindness.”
The Burton On Trent YMCA provides 67 units of supported housing accommodation for homeless young people between the ages of 16-24. It runs a furniture redistribution service where donated good quality furniture is provided at low cost to families in need. It also provides emergency food parcels for the homeless and those that find themselves in crisis.
Angela Thomas, Sales and Marketing Manager at Peveril Homes says: “We’re absolutely delighted that the YMCA has been able to put the show home furniture to such good use. The charity has done an incredible job for more than 20 years and relies on donations when it comes to supporting young people and families who are struggling. It’s wonderful that we’re in a position to help them continue their hard work.
“Companies have a responsibility to be seen not only as successful businesses but also as responsible contributors to the communities in which they work. We have always believed Peveril has a wider role in helping to provide social improvement across the communities where we provide homes.”
Following the successful sale of the first show apartment at Grants, Peveril Homes has launched a new show apartment that will provide a wealth of interior inspiration, and continue to showcase the other properties that make up the exclusive development; which includes an array of one and two-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom homes.
Visitors to the new show home can appreciate the surprisingly quiet development which enjoys a private courtyard, tucked away behind Station Street, yet is only minutes from the town centre and all its amenities.
Prices at Grants start from £99,950. For more information about the range of properties and cash saving deals available please contact Peveril Homes on 01283 569066.
