Historical Sutton-in-Ashfield Club bowled over by sponsorship deal...

A donation of £1,000 is on its way to Polly Bowls Club, thanks to the generosity of award-winning house builder Peveril Homes.

The Sutton-in-Ashfield based bowling club – formerly part of the Pretty Polly Sports and Social Club, established in 1959 - is one step closer to purchasing its first ever club uniform. Says John Brunt, Secretary of Polly Bowls Club: “The club has been in existence for 50 years but in that time has never had an official club uniform. It’s a great way to start such a commemorative year.

“We wanted to gain sponsorship from a well-known and respected local company and looked no further than Peveril Homes. We approached them with our request and they were more than happy to accommodate us. The new shirts represent a tremendous sense of unity when we go out as a team. We really can’t thank Peveril enough for their generosity and hope this is the start of a long-term relationship."

The bowling green on Unwin Road is used by hundreds of Ashfield residents and the members play in various tournaments throughout the year including the Ashfield Bowling Association League and representative matches against other associations from Mansfield, Nottingham and Lincoln.
